“A Arte de Roubar Fruta” and “Cinzas & Sudário” presented at Casa Antero de Quental

Casa Antero de Quental will host two new book presentations in May: the latest works by Francisco Duarte Mangas, A Arte de Roubar Fruta, and Aurelino Costa, Cinzas & Sudário, both published earlier this year.

In A Arte de Roubar Fruta, Francisco Duarte Mangas intertwines two narratives, featuring characters who move across two historical periods, where the passion for words is ever present. It is a novel about the courage of men and women who resisted fascist violence in Portugal and in the neighbouring country.

In Cinzas & Sudário, Aurelino Costa writes from a wounded time, where poetic language can no longer be neutral or merely ornamental. The book is marked by the violence of the contemporary world, the memory of bodies and land, and the awareness of a moral and historical collapse shaping our present, where poetry emerges as an act of testimony, denunciation, and resistance.

The books will be presented on Saturday, 16 May, at 5:00 PM, at Casa Antero de Quental, in the presence of the authors. Admission is free.
