Cabe Cave Associação Cultural presents, as part of the celebrations of April 25, 2026 in Vila do Conde, the fifth edition of The Expression of Freedom. After four years of building and consolidating a model of collective artistic intervention — which has earned its place in the city’s April 25 celebrations — this edition marks a conscious and ambitious shift: the challenge is raised.
The essence remains: the word as a living medium, the intersection of music, poetry, video, and performance, and Largo dos Artistas as a shared space of celebration. However, the structure deepens. The performance grows in scale, complexity, and meaning — with each part of the central text developed by a different group of artists, and with young people taking center stage for the first time in the most symbolic moment of the night.
In this edition, the performance is guided by the book Magnésio, by Francisca Bartilotti, published by Flan de Tal. The book is a long poem — a lullaby addressed to those who will carry out the next revolution. Its premise is both powerful and paradoxical: the certainty that the revolution will come, alongside the equally strong conviction that rest, sleep, and mutual care are essential and indispensable parts of that very revolution.
The performance returns on the night of April 24, following the established tradition of singing “Grândola, Vila Morena” at Largo dos Artistas.
