There are places we all pass through but rarely take the time to notice.
For years, Angélica Costa entered public toilets out of necessity and often left with a photograph. She found in them an unexpected sense of discovery: a poem on a wall, a mirror, an unlikely door, an object, a light, a reflection or a moment of humour.
In this way, she built an archive spanning different cities, countries and cultures, from West to East.
Both an intimate space and a place of transit, the public toilet preserves traces of those who use it and reveals what so often escapes our attention in everyday life.
Perhaps, after all, this work is about the curiosity to notice the invisible.
