On 19 September 2026, Praça D. João II and Alameda dos Descobrimentos will become the heart of sustainable mobility with the Vila do Conde Cycling Showcase. As part of the celebrations marking European Mobility Week, the event reinforces the municipality’s commitment to the environment, health and the use of bicycles as an ecological and viable means of everyday transport.
The main highlight of the day will be the Urban Bike Ride, starting at 6:30 pm at Praça D. João II (Sundial Square). This is an open invitation to families, young and old, and cycling enthusiasts to come together and ride through some of the city’s most emblematic areas, including the Historic Centre, the Riverside Area and the seafront, in a unique celebration of community and active mobility. To make the occasion even more special, the organisers will hold exciting prize draws, with a variety of prizes for participants.
Bring your bike, bring your family and come pedal towards a more sustainable future in Vila do Conde!
12:00 pm – Showcase Opening & Children’s Cycling Circuit: The exhibition spaces hosted by associations and companies will open. For younger participants, an introductory cycling circuit will be available continuously until the start of the Urban Bike Ride, with qualified staff on hand throughout to ensure a safe first experience on a bicycle.
2:30 pm–3:30 pm – Cycling Esports Demonstration: The world of virtual cycling comes to life in the Cycling area, with a competition and demonstration bringing together cyclists on site. Visitors will also have the opportunity to try out the platform and discover the sport.
3:00 pm–6:00 pm – Solidarity Indoor Cycling Marathon: A spinning session for around 100 participants, combining sport with social responsibility. The funds raised through this activity will go towards the construction of the Vila do Conde Parish Centre.
6:30 pm – Urban Bike Ride: The grand finale of the event, promoting healthy lifestyles and bringing the community together.
