Luísa Sobral is one of the most recognized singer-songwriters in the Portuguese music scene.
She made her debut in 2011 with the album The Cherry on My Cake, which was very well received by both the public and critics. This was followed by There’s A Flower In My Bedroom (2013), featuring guests such as Jamie Cullum, António Zambujo and Mário Laginha, and later the album Luísa (2016), recorded in Los Angeles with producer Joe Henry (who has worked with Madonna and Elvis Costello, among others).
Rosa (2018), her fifth studio album, was produced by Raül Refree (known for collaborations with Sílvia Pérez Cruz, Rosalía and Rocío Márquez). Exploring pop with a light touch, DanSando (2022) is Luísa Sobral’s most recent album: an intimate and personal work, yet also socially conscious and engaged, bringing together brighter songs in which love is the raw material. Produced by Latin Grammy winner Tó Brandileone, the album was recorded between Lisbon and São Paulo.
Her work as a songwriter has steadily gained prominence over the years, composing for artists such as Ana Moura, António Zambujo, Sara Correia, Mayra Andrade and Sílvia Pérez Cruz, among many others.
In 2017, she wrote the song Amar Pelos Dois, which she entrusted to her brother, Salvador Sobral, to perform. The sibling partnership proved to be a tremendous success: Portugal achieved its first-ever victory at the Eurovision Song Contest.
As a producer, she has collaborated with artists such as Elisa Rodrigues, Joana Alegre, Luís Trigacheiro and Rogério Charraz.
Luísa Sobral has also created work dedicated to children, including the album Lu-Pu-I-Pi-Sa-Pa (2014), the lullaby mini-album Camomila (2021), and the books Quando a Porta Fica Aberta (2022) and O Peso das Palavras (2024).
In 2025, she released her first novel, Nem Todas as Árvores Morrem de Pé.
