José Régio revisited through the memories, stories and personal connections of those who knew him.

As part of the programme celebrating the 125th anniversary of José Régio’s birth, the archival documentary José Régio, Entre Amigos will be screened for the first time. Directed by Paulo Agra in 1995, the film was produced as part of his final degree project.

Drawing on the testimonies of friends and people close to the writer, the documentary brings together memories, stories and personal perspectives on José Régio, revealing not only the writer, but also the man, the relationships he built and the lasting impression he left on those who knew him.

Three decades after it was made, this documentary stands as an important record of collective memory and offers an opportunity to rediscover José Régio through the voices of those who knew him personally.
