The Casa Antero de Quental, in Vila do Conde, will host on Saturday, March 21, at 5:30 pm, the presentation of IMA, the first monograph dedicated to the artistic career of Filipe Marques.

Published by AMAG, with graphic design by Márcia Novais and editorial coordination by Maria Burmester, IMA offers an in-depth survey of the most significant projects and exhibitions by the Vila do Conde–born artist. Initiated in August 2023, the volume brings together works produced between 2001 and the present, developed across various media and formats, emerging from a dialogue with modern philosophical theories that question the foundations of humanism.

Richly illustrated, the book presents installation views of all the projects, accompanied by a selection of documentary and reference images from the artist’s archive. It also includes texts by Sara Castelo Branco, Nuno Faria, Óscar Faria, Miguel Marques, Maria Filomena Molder, Eduarda Neves, Isabel Nogueira, Miguel von Hafe Pérez, Pedro Pousada, António Quadros Ferreira, Paulo Reis, David Revés, Daniel Ribas, João Ribas, João Silvério, João Sousa Cardoso, João Terras, Juan Luis Toboso and Carlos Vidal, bringing together a wide range of critical reflections on his artistic practice.

Filipe Marques lives and works in Vila do Conde. He studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto and at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Since 1996, his work has been regularly presented in solo and group exhibitions in both national and international contexts, and is represented in several public and private collections. He is a member of the National Academy of Fine Arts and a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto and at the Colégio das Artes of the University of Coimbra.

The session will feature the presence of Filipe Marques and a panel of invited guests.
