Casa Antero de Quental, in Vila do Conde, is hosting Rostos Inabaláveis, an exhibition by Sílvia Mota Lopes that brings together painting and literature in a tribute to 15 women writers, each portrayed and commented on by another woman in the homonymous book published by the artist.

Poet, painter, illustrator and author of children’s and young adult literature, with several published works, Sílvia Mota Lopes has portrayed fifteen women who stand as memorable figures in the ongoing struggle to affirm and strengthen the place of women in art and contemporary social and cultural life.

They are Agustina Bessa-Luís, Ana Luísa Amaral, Ana Plácido, Graça Pires, Hélia Correia, Lídia Jorge, Maria do Céu Nogueira, Maria Judite de Carvalho, Maria Ondina Braga, Maria Teresa Horta, Maria Velho da Costa, Marta Cristina de Araújo, Natália Correia, Rosália de Castro and Teolinda Gersão.

Bringing together two creative forms of expression — literary and artistic — in an intermedial dialogue, this project offers a particularly sensitive perspective on the work and voices of these women.

The exhibition opens on 3 October at 5:00 p.m., with the presence of artist Sílvia Mota Lopes and a presentation by writer José Queiroga.
