Next Saturday, April 11 at 3:30 PM, the Centro de Memória de Vila do Conde will host the presentation of the children’s and young adult book “Valentim – The Heart Wants to Overcome Fatigue”, an event that promises to bring families together around literature and health promotion.
Part of the World Health Day celebrations, observed today, April 7, this session aims to raise awareness among young audiences about the importance of physical and emotional well-being through an inspiring story.
The book is authored by Arménio Santos, a Communication Sciences graduate with a background in journalism and creative writing, and Ana Sofia Correia, a cardiologist with a special interest in heart failure and mentor of the Health Literacy for Kids and Adults – Mission Care for the Heart project, focused on promoting health literacy among children.
Illustrator Carla Pinto, responsible for the book’s visual universe, will also be present, sharing the process of creating the images that bring the story to life and help children understand its content.
The event will also feature a musical performance by singer Fátima Neto, adding an artistic and emotional dimension to the session.
Complementing the presentation, there will be an illustration workshop led by Carla Pinto, designed for parents and children, inviting them to explore creativity and share experiences as a family.
This initiative is thus an opportunity to celebrate children’s literature, encourage reading habits, and reinforce the importance of health and well-being from an early age, in an educational, cultural, and participatory environment.
