Break for a Chapter

Organized by the Vila do Conde City Hall, “Break for a Chapter” is an intergenerational book club, open to readers of all ages, that fosters connections between generations through the sharing of stories and perspectives. Born from the desire to bring the community together through literature, the project celebrates its first anniversary this month, marking a year of monthly meetings dedicated to critical thinking and social interaction.

Sessions are held monthly on Wednesdays at 7:00 PM at Espaço Vila Jovem. Each meeting uses a pre-selected book as a starting point for informal, reflective, and enriching conversations about universal and contemporary themes.

The next session, celebrating the club’s first year, will take place on April 22 at 7:00 PM. The focus will be on The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, a powerful and emotionally rich novel that transports readers into a story of resilience and courage, encouraging reflection on the strength of family bonds and the role of women in times of adversity.

All readers are invited—whether long-time participants or first-time attendees—to celebrate this anniversary and share in a common passion for reading.
